St. Patrick’s Festival

Nicky was given the honoured role of Grand Marshal in Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Festival this year. He was chosen by Festival organisers for his outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry.

Nicky was absolutely thrilled to have been asked to be Grand Marshal for the Dublin Parade this St. Patrick’s Day. Being asked to fill this role was hugely special for the star, who has treasured memories, “sitting on my Dad’s shoulders on St. Patrick’s Day in years gone by on O’Connell Street trying to catch a glimpse of all the floats passing by in the Dublin Parade”.

This year’s Festival Parade was themed, ‘Great Things Happen When We Get Together’. It saw the greatest number of overseas participants take part in the parade, with over 35,000 performers. Over 6,000 visitors also came from more than 45 countries to witness the celebration of the festival.

Bands, colourful floats, street performers, dancers and musicians, thrilled children and adults alike with their creative and artistic talents. Almost 500,000 people turned out to enjoy the Parade, with over one million more tuning in to watch the Parade live on TV.

Speaking about his experience with the St. Patrick’s Festival, Nicky said, “It was a fantastic experience to be Grand Marshal for the St. Patrick’s Festival. It was great to meet so many people from all over the world celebrating Ireland’s national holiday! It was a very proud moment for me as a Dubliner to take part in such a special celebration. This will definitely be one to tell the grandchildren about!”
