Saturday Night with Miriam

Nicky and Aidan dropped in to Saturday Night with Miriam on RTÉ 1 this week. They discussed their new show, The Hit. The Hit is broadcast live every Friday from the O2 and sees well know Irish artists partner with unknown songwriters to find the next big ‘hit’.

The lads explained how it is different to any other previous talent show, placing the emphasis on the songwriter and the quality of the song.

The show has already seen two songs enter the Irish charts – currently the two only Irish artists in the top 10. The Stunning went into the Irish Charts at number 6 with their song ‘Run and Hide’, written by Alice Lynsey. Julie Feeney charted at number 9 with her song ‘New Tattoo’, composed by Tommy Moore.

Nicky and Aidan also discussed the dickie bow phenomenon with Miriam, with Aidan joking that Nicky talked him into wearing one for their opening night!

Nicky is loving his experience on The Hit and being part of a big, primetime show. Although Aidan revealed that he did initially have to convince Nicky to leave the Westlife stool at home!

It’s been a very busy week for Nicky – he’s dropped by 98fm with Dermot and Dave, Today fm with Anton Savage, and Hector on 2fm already this week – phew! And it’s still only week two of The Hit!

The guys promised lots more drama and rivalry in the upcoming episodes of The Hit, as well as Johnny Logan in leather pants – something definitely not to be missed!
